A template, not legal advice and not an official City form. Rules change: confirm current requirements with the City of Fort Lauderdale and the State of Florida before relying on it.
In Fort Lauderdale, a vacation rental in a one to four family dwelling must be registered with the City and hold a certificate of compliance before it is rented or even offered for rent (Code §15-272). The City wants the state and county pieces first: the Florida DBPR vacation rental license, then the Department of Revenue sales tax certificate, the Broward County business tax receipt and the Broward tourist development tax account. The two tax registrations can be replaced by a notarized statement when a platform such as Airbnb collects and remits both taxes.
An inspection comes before the first certificate and again every year, and violations must be corrected and re-inspected within 30 calendar days (§15-279). Inside the home, §15-278 sets the postings: the certificate by the main entrance door, the noise statement, the parking sketch, trash days, the hospital and police numbers, and an evacuation map by every bedroom. Registrations expire September 30, with renewals due 60 days earlier (§15-281). This bundle adds Florida's state notices on top.
