At the state level: display the DBPR license (F.S. 509.241(3)), post house rules in English if you set them (F.S. 509.101(1)), post the dishware notice where dishes are washed by ordinary household means (Rule 61C-3.001(1)(b)), post the human trafficking awareness sign where employees can see it (F.S. 509.096(1)(c)), and display the Department of Revenue certificate if you are registered (F.S. 212.18(3)(a)). Cities and counties often add their own.
Rule 61C-3.001(1)(b) sets a placard that starts “NOTICE TO GUESTS” and tells guests the dishware, glassware, kitchenware or utensils were cleaned with ordinary household dishwashing facilities and agents and have not been sanitized to federal and state standards for public food service. It goes in each unit where those items are provided.
F.S. 509.101(2) requires a register showing the dates each unit was occupied and the rate charged, kept in date order and available to the Division at any time. It may be electronic, and registers more than 2 years old need not be produced.
F.S. 509.141(2) sets the wording: “You are hereby notified that this establishment no longer desires to entertain you as its guest, and you are requested to leave at once. To remain after receipt of this notice is a misdemeanor under the laws of this state.” When the reason is failing to check out or pay by checkout time, the notice must be in writing by email, text message or printed paper.
F.S. 509.096(1)(a) requires annual approved training for employees who clean the rental units or check guests in, and within 60 days for new employees in those roles. Each person signs a dated acknowledgment that must be shown to DBPR on request.
