What does Fort Lauderdale require a vacation rental to post?
Under Code §15-278, the certificate of compliance on or next to the inside of the main entrance door (§15-278(9)), and posted conspicuously: the noise statement, a sketch or photo of the off-street parking, trash pickup days and times, the sea turtle notice where it applies, the nearest hospital and the police non-emergency number (§15-278(5)a to f). An evacuation map of at least 8.5 by 11 inches goes next to the interior door of each bedroom (§15-278(5)g).
What is Fort Lauderdale's required noise statement?
Code §15-278(5)a requires a statement that any sound must not be plainly audible for one minute or longer at a distance of 25 feet or more from the source property line between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. daily, or at 50 feet or more between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily. Post the City's wording, not a paraphrase.
Where does the evacuation map go in a Fort Lauderdale vacation rental?
Next to the interior door of each bedroom, at least 8.5 by 11 inches (Code §15-278(5)g). The City's 2026 inspection checklist looks for it on the wall beside the bedroom's exit door, not on the back of the door.
Does a Fort Lauderdale vacation rental need a noise monitoring device?
Yes. Code §15-278(12) requires a noise level detection device that alerts the owner or responsible party and the guests to noise from the rental. Its data must be kept 180 days and made available to the City on request.
Everything one Fort Lauderdale vacation rental needs on paper: register it, post the City's notices, add Florida's state notices, draw the maps and plan for storm season.
