A template, not legal advice and not an official City form. Rules change: confirm current requirements with the City of Fort Lauderdale before relying on it.
Fort Lauderdale's process has two halves, and this bundle has a file for each. The first is registration. You collect the state license and the tax registrations in the order the City expects, then apply for the vacation rental registration and upload your documents. If you apply for an owner as a co-host or manager, the owner signs a letter of authorization in front of a notary.
The second half is the inspection. A code officer inspects the home before the City issues the first certificate of compliance, and again every year after that (Code §15-279). The inspector checks the life safety items in §15-278(1), such as hard-wired interconnected smoke and CO alarms and a 2A:10B:C extinguisher on each floor, and the postings in §15-278(5) and (9). Nothing can be rented until the certificate is issued.
